Pepperdine fundraiser and local events in Lompoc

Pepperdine University fundraiser garage sale hosted by Associated Women for Pepperdine at 140 Somerset Place runs Friday and Saturday with items from small appliances to clothing. Lompoc annual campout at Paradise Camp organized by Grange with wagonmaster Joe Salucci. hamburgers served Sunday. Community notices include a steak dinner party at the Haselmo home and a Lompoc Gem and Mineral Society farewell for Dave Croas.

Ladies knit for veterans in hospitals project

World War I Veterans Auxiliary conducts monthly sewing and knitting to prepare wool lap robes and afghans for veterans hospital patients. September meeting is next Tuesday 1 to 5 pm at Bernardine Hall 225 N F St. Donations of wool yarn handknit sweaters and other usable fabrics are welcome and can be arranged via Ruth Andersen or Edna Truesdale.

Kiwanis Club installs Sauzek as president

Robert Sauzek of 4152 Sirius Ave Vandenberg Village is installed as president of the Kiwanis Club of Lompoc. Jim Smith Wes Scanlon are vice presidents Bob Montgomery is secretary treasurer on the board are Orv Erdmann Gene Hutton Mel Ramos Edward Lewis Dick Osmundson Norman Ellertson and Cliff Phillips. Lt Governor Jerry Gray and Lt Governor elect Bob Frantz conducted the 45th annual installation.

Meals on Wheels aids Lompoc seniors in isolation

Six elderly residents in Lompoc gain companionship and nourishment through the Meals on Wheels program started June 1. Twenty volunteers deliver one hot meal daily to those over 50 unable to shop or cook, with friendly visits from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. five days a week.
