Mariner 10 closes rapidly on Mercury
UPI reports Mariner 10 nears Mercury for its third encounter after Venus flyby. The craft will relay 500 plus images from 4:41 p.m. EDT today through 5:40 p.m. Sunday as it aims to map Mercury’s south polar region and assess scarps and a potential iron core.
