Mission Hills man jailed for assault after shooting fray

Audie Wallis Willis a 33 year old Mission Hills resident was jailed on assault with a deadly weapon charges after a shooting near his Via Barba home witnesses said four shots were fired prompting a swift sheriff’s response. No one was injured.

Arson suspected in trio of parked autos on East Pine Avenue

Fire officials say three cars in a 700 block East Pine Avenue lot were destroyed or damaged by arson last night. The heavily damaged 1966 Pontiac belonged to Cathy Mary Garcia with two others, a 1965 Pontiac and a 1971 Chevy, sustaining moderate damage. Panel backs ag preserve for mission area lots

The County Planning Commission voting 6-2 urged that a 78.5 acre split parcel near La Purisima Mission be admitted into the agricultural preserve program. Robert Lilley of Lompoc recused himself. The panel also approved 40 acre zoning for the larger parcel and noted no further splits. Skeptics and supporters debated keeping farm lands intact versus urbanization.

William D. Ladd dies after lingering illness at 52

Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Lompoc for William D. Ladd 52 born 1922 Illinois. Navy veteran of World War II and member of Lompoc Senior Citizens.
