Probe sought on FPC gas price protection

Last American POW slated for release on Wednesday

The last known American prisoner of war in Indochina, Emmett Kay, 47, of Honolulu, will be released Wednesday. He will be flown from Sam Neua to Wattay airport in Vientiane, ending 496 days in captivity. Kay’s transfer will be witnessed by his wife and overseen by U.S. and Lao officials, with health checks possible at Clark Air Base if needed.

Commuter Cars Begin Underwater BART Runs

Spaceage rail cars of BART began commuter service through an earthquake proof 3.6 mile underwater tunnel linking Oakland and San Francisco. Daily export reporting starts to curb grain shipments

Washington reports large exports must be notified daily to the U S government beginning this week to prevent depletion of agricultural supplies. Exports of 100000 tons or more of wheat corn grain sorghum soybeans or soybean meal require daily notices with penalties for violations. Critics cite loopholes allowing two 50000 ton contracts or split orders under 100000 tons to avoid reporting.
