Official opposes bounty on skunks in Santa Ynez Valley
County Agricultural Commissioner Graydon Hall Friday said he would strongly oppose any proposal to set a bounty on skunks in the Santa Ynez Valley where a rabies outbreak has emerged in five months. He warned bounties could prompt untrained or young people to capture animals, risking further rabies exposure. Hall argued that experienced trappers are the most effective way to remove diseased wildlife and that progress depends on adequate personnel to hunt rabid animals.
