Two Die In Solo Car Crash On Highway 101 Near Vista Del Mar
A small foreign car left the highway near Vista Del Mar School and struck a tree killing Lee Peterson, 20, and Laura Liberati, 18, while a friend, Linda Nichols, 20, watched from behind. The crash occurred as they traveled north on Highway 101. In a separate incident on Highway 246 west of Solvang four Hawthorne residents were seriously injured when ejected from a spinning car and transported to Santa Ynez Valley Hospital, then Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
