William Frankfather leads as stage manager with versatile presence, while Don Hamilton as Doc Gibbs and Betty Brown as Mrs Gibbs and Mrs Webb deliver solid performances. The final act lags slightly and some lines are delivered weakly, but overall unity and vitality make the production worth seeing as it runs through Oct. 30.

Hotels face nationwide class action over extra telephone fees
A U.S. district court class action accuses hundreds of hotels of overcharging customers more than 50 million dollars in four years. The complaint says a 3 percent telephone fee was added as a tax or local charge after customers agreed to a room rate. Reno attorney Howard McKissick Jr. filed the suit for California clients. He noted four or five similar actions nationwide and possible consolidation. He cited a Waldorf Astoria case in New York that ordered repayment of about 100 000 dollars over telephone charges.
