Supervisors approve sewage plant study and school appointment

County supervisors authorize an engineering study to assess a second Lake Cachuma sewage plant on the north shore. They also appointed Lorenzo Dalla Armi 46 of Santa Barbara as county superintendent of schools effective Jan 1 to succeed Fred J Greenough.

Lack of interest in special districts noted by county board

County officials reported low interest in special district board positions. The Board of Supervisors granted 12 appointments in lieu of elections due to a lack of competitive candidates. J. E. Lewis said information is being gathered for five more districts before deciding on four year terms. Several districts will have November contests or recall elections.

Scout and club meetings and a base contract report

Daily records show SCOUTS-American Legion Post 211 will meet Friday at 7:30 p.m. at 112 North H Street to organize a Cub Scout Pack for boys ages 8 to 11 with parental attendance. Bicycle collision injures Cecelia Wilson in city accident

Police report Cecelia Dawn Wilson a 12 year old resident of 1037 North Third Street suffered minor injuries when her bicycle collided with a car driven by Donald George Cameron 48 of 516 South F Street yesterday in a local accident.

Burglary Suspect Recaptured After Escape Attempt

Jerry Andrew Ryals 19 escaped custody as he was taken from Lompoc Justice Court toward Lompoc Jail. Officers tracked him to North B Street and East Ocean Avenue before flushing him from a gap between apartments. He was recaptured 15 minutes later and faces a preliminary hearing on multiple charges.

Vandenberg CAP holds Cadet Squadron 101 ceremony promotions

Lompoc City Groups Discuss Communication

The Lompoc City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission met at Foster's Smokehouse to improve information flow on parks projects. They approved a Harold Thompson Park entrance sign costing 150 to 200 dollars and debated sign sizes for other parks. Commissioner Hines resigned from the youth commission due to school and job commitments.
