California franchise tax board mails 379 million in estimated bills
Personal income tax bills totaling 379 million dollars were mailed to about 644000 taxpayers by the Franchise Tax Board. The notices urge recipients to pay half of their 1971 liability by October 31 and indicate that estimated tax filing affects roughly 12 percent of taxpayers in the state.

Our Town opens October 22 at Performing Arts Center Theatre
The production stars William Frank as Stage Manager with Don Hamilton as Dr Gibbs and David Lauria as Mr Webb. The cast includes Jenny Patoni Mrs Gibbs Betty Brown Mrs Webb George Gibbs Norm Barnett Emily Webb and a 50 member company directed by Eugene Kusterer. The play runs seven performances through October 30 1971 and is set in Grover's Corners New Hampshire at the turn of the century.
