Obsession with Watergate dangers, Klein warns panel
Herbert G. Klein former White House communications director warned that over-obsession with Watergate may threaten the nation more than the scandal itself. He urged focus on moving ahead, while noting both parties used dirty tricks and criticizing Nixon era privilege claims by saying broad access to information is essential.

McCloskey argues remap hurts four lawmakers and shifts voters
Rep. Paul N. McCloskey says a special masters reapportionment plan would move 139,051 constituents from Rep. Phillip Burton to Republican William Mailliard in San Francisco and Marin. He contends the district swap makes Mailliard’s seat hard to win while Burton’s remains safely Democratic. He cites Mailliard’s decade in Congress and Foreign Affairs work as key experience.
