Pudinski Resigns CHP Chief Post for Inspector Job
Walter Pudinski resigns as California Highway Patrol commissioner to return to a supervising inspector role in the San Bernardino zone. Gov. Reagan accepts the move, naming Dante Lanza as the new commissioner effective November 1. Pudinski will head the San Bernardino grid with a $31,000 salary while Lanza began his CHP career as a patrolman in 1950.
