High Court hears Oklahoma beer age and survivor benefits cases
In Washington the Supreme Court heard two sex discrimination challenges. One questions a 3.2 beer law allowing 18 year olds to buy weak beer while men wait until 21. The other concerns Social Security survivor benefits denying widowers unless they receive 75 percent of support from wives. The court’s mood was sober as justices weighed constitutional issues. In Williamsburg the Ford Carter final debate will be Oct 22 at William and Mary Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall.
