German officers suspended over mock Jew burning at Munich college
Eleven German army officers at the Bundeswehr Military College in Munich were suspended for taking part in a drinking party that included a mock Jew burning and Nazi salutes. Navy Capt. Kurt Fischer said uniforms were removed and postings restricted while disciplinary hearings proceed, with government sources noting possible dismissal. The incident, condemned nationwide, surfaced after the Frankfurter Rundschau published details seven months later. The investigation, led by Lt. Gen. Ruediger von Reichert, found the conduct contemptible but not rooted in anti Semitic sentiment.
