Attorney Encounters Hurdles in Gift of Forest Land Above Montecito

An attorney for Brady Investment Co. faced questions from the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission over a proposed 400 acre gift of foothill forest land above Montecito. The panel recommended that the land be accepted by either the county or the federal government, with subsurface rights retained by the company and surface rights waived. The offer targets preservation as a forest preserve, with building plans for adjacent lower parcels pending in January.
