Former telephone office becomes private residence in Solvang
John Case 28 and Russ Lowrey 26, with Sally Templeton 24, are converting the old Santa Barbara Telephone Co central office on Highway 246 into an 1800 square foot two bedroom home. They add 11 windows, a 12 by 20 deck, courtyard, book loft, and Spanish style details using Mexican mahogany doors and terra cotta accents.

Power Outage Blamed on Birds in Santa Ynez Area
A PG&E outage affecting 1100 customers in Santa Ynez and Lake Cachuma was caused by a crow nest on a transformer and a flock of starlings. a burned transformer at Highway 246 west of Santa Ynez was replaced, restoring power in 31 minutes. The Santa Ynez Valley volunteer group planned a December 12 luncheon and meeting.

The Santa Ynez Valley Woman's Club presents an evening of Yuletide music on Friday Dec 9 at 8 pm in the Bethania Lutheran Church parish hall Solvang. The Santa Barbara Choral Society directed by Albert Campbell performs works by Haydn Chuetz and Pergolesi plus seasonal selections. The concert is free with refreshments served after. The program is a community gift with no admission charge.
