Lompoc Teen Faces Blindness While Pursuing UCSB
16 year old Alan Benson of Lompoc plans to start at UCSB in September after gradual vision loss from Easter. Doctors are unsure of the cause, possibly maculopathy, with rehab services aiding learning through hearing and cane walking. He remains active in Madrigals and writing, recently winning a state contest, and optimistic about a writing career.
