City Council reviews Olive Avenue speed limits and stop signs

Public Works Director Barry Gustafson urged against stop signs on Olive Avenue while proposing raising the West Olive Avenue limit to 30 and 35 mph. Residents, led by Tom Page, pushed for speed restrictions and three way stop signs at Olive Avenue and O Street, with a meeting set at City Hall to seek an agreeable recommendation.

Reagan buys Santa Barbara County ranch near Lompoc

The sale price is not disclosed but deed stamps show at least 527000 involved. The Refugio Mountain ranch, 25 miles southeast of Lompoc, has been owned by Cornelius for about 20 years as a cattle ranch with an adobe house used as a summer retreat. Reagan trustees moved in new cattle while Cornelius’s were removed. A governor spokesman notes Reagan plans to keep his Pacific Palisades home and possibly the Riverside ranch, describing the Santa Barbara County property as a longtime dream.

Man bound over in burglary case. thefts reported

Terrence Darwin Tanner, 21, of 1536 W Cherry Ave, bound over to Santa Maria Superior Court on burglary charges from a Nov 11 incident at 800 North St. He faces possession of burglary tools and bail set at 2000 dollars. A 38 caliber pistol and holster were reported stolen from Ronald Dean Smith’s car on South Hawthorne Street. Smith is listed at 413 S Hawthorne St.
