Hijacker killed in gun battle at Alice Springs Airport
In Australia the hijacker of an Ansett F27 Friendship was shot and killed after opening fire on police at Alice Springs airport. A Constable was seriously wounded. The plane carried 36 passengers and four crew from Adelaide. One stewardess was released before the shooting.
