The 14th annual Santa Ynez Valley Hospital Auxiliary ball pours into the Veterans Memorial Building Solvang with 7 to 8 social hour and dinner followed by dancing to Doug Stewart and a local band. Funds support hospital equipment landscaping and scholarships totaling nearly 53 000 since 1963. auxiliary volunteers run the Gift Shop New-to-You Shop and help at the reception desk and gift shop. Principal named for program Dr Diane Halleck named principal for environmental education
Dr. Diane Halleck a former director at Boulder Natural Science School and Thorne Ecological Institute is named principal teacher for the County Schools environmental education program. She brings degrees from Illinois State University and the University of Colorado and has taught at the Community College of Denver. The program at Cachuma Church Camp offers a weeklong study for sixth graders from Santa Ynez Lompoc Valleys and the south coast. Also note a holiday fashion show at the Hansen home in Santa Ynez to benefit the Santa Ynez Valley unit of the Children’s Home Society with tickets from local shops and entertainment by the Santa Ynez Valley High School jazz choir. SMOOTH Unveils Senior Transport Service For Santa Ynez Valley
SMOOTH Santa Maria announces a senior transport van serving Santa Maria and the Santa Ynez Valley. The seven passenger van with wheelchair lift will pick up and drop off at homes and doctor offices with no fares, donations accepted. A Santa Ynez Valley Quota Club unit will be discussed at a November luncheon at Bit O Denmark in Rose Dunham and Karleen Keene will speak. Appointments should be made in advance at the Solvang Senior Center 688-3793, with service supported by United Way, county funds, and Area Agency on Aging.
