Sheriff considers mutual aid amid student antiwar protests
Santa Barbara County Sheriff John Carpenter said he is nearly ready to call in mutual aid to handle continuous antiwar demonstrations in Santa Barbara and UC areas. More than 2,000 protesters have gathered for days. if needed, units from Lompoc and Santa Maria could be deployed and, beyond 24 hours, the National Guard may be used.
