Utah Bible credits for Mormon seminary draw legal challenge
In Utah, public schools grant credit for Old and New Testament courses taught at Mormon seminaries adjacent to high schools. The ACLU has filed a federal suit targeting Logan School District, arguing the program breaches church state separation. The state and church defend the courses as non sectarian Bible history and literature, with credits varying by district and Salt Lake City District withholding credit.
