Food prices slip in April while industrial costs surge

Lebanese planes strike Palestinian guerrilla posts near Beirut
Lebanese fighter planes attacked guerrilla strongpoints on Beirut's southern outskirts for a second day. Two Mirage jets carried out 12 passes over the Shatilla area and Bourj Barajneh camp firing rockets amid heavy fighting and casualties reported on both sides. Planners Back RV and Boat Storage Plan in Vandenberg Village
The County Planning Commission voted to send a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to approve a 30 600 square foot north side Vulcan Drive lot for open storage of 42 recreational vehicles boats and trailers with ancillary sales and service of recreational accessories. If approved by supervisors it would become the county s first recreational vehicle storage area in a mixed use overlay on single family residential land. Commissioner Robert Lilley noted a need to remove vehicles from streets and said the district response was not enthusiastic. The applicant David B Guest represents Vandenberg Village Development Co and the site is in escrow.

Revenue sharing funds may cut county tax rate by 22 cents
County administrative officer Raymond D. Johnson says applying federal revenue sharing funds to the 1973-74 budget could cut the general fund tax rate by 17.2 cents. Auditor-Controller Paul Floyd estimates $7,850,000 available for next year with $5,030,289 for capital outlay and $2,266,815 for one time expenditures. An additional $335,250 could yield a further 5.2 cent reduction, totaling 22.4 cents if approved. Unappropriated balance would then be $217,644.
