Question and answer on city fire rating and bond issue

The article explains how fire ratings are determined by the Pacific Fire Rating Bureau using the Grading Schedule. Lompoc is Class 5, with a $79 annual fire insurance for a $20 000 home. lowering to Class 4 would drop to about $76. The underwriters use a nationwide standard scaled for each city. Construction of the station, alarm system and related improvements could move Lompoc to Class 4, with potential insurance savings, though not guaranteed.
