Financing eyed for Solvang reservoir and pipeline project
Solvang Municipal Improvement District discussed financing a 305000 dollar Zone 2 reservoir and pipeline project. Alternate plan for Chalk Hill improvement debated by residents
At a Solvang meeting residents urged the County Transportation Dept to estimate costs for a new Chalk Hill Road plan from Eucalyptus to Elsinore Drive. Harold Purdy described a 338000 dollar proposal with 118000 federal funds, widening to 36 feet, bikeway and sidewalks, plus a new entrance to Solvang Lutheran Home. Opponents argued the route eastward would remove 28 pine trees and wanted a park-side route, but Purdy warned it would delay federal approval and raise costs.
