UPI reports a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing in a hospital lounge was halted when lobbyist Dita D. Beard suffered a heart seizure. Sen. Philip Hart led six senators into the room to hear sworn testimony about ITT and a giant conglomerate’s funds tied to the Republican National Convention. The panel postponed the session as Beard collapsed at Rocky Mountain Osteopathic Hospital during the first day of the meeting. The committee planned to resume testing Harold Geneen’s role in ITT in Washington later.
