Los Padres PTA Hosts Evening of Entertainment and Awards

Los Padres School PTA featured the Lompoc Sr. Citizens Nuts and Bolts Band at its March meeting with lively performances and audience applause. Honorary service awards were presented to Mrs. George Crumpler and Mrs. Albin Carter, introduced by Mrs. William E. Gile. Officers for 1971 72 were elected: Mrs. Frederick Palm president, Carl Sullivan VP, Mrs. Ambrose Lesnick second VP, Mrs. John A. Chi Phi Beta Sigma Phi members debated what communication means and how non verbal cues convey messages. Special guests from Omega Pi Chapter attended and fundraising plans were unveiled for a spring chocolate fudge eggs sale and a music scholarship drive. Election of officers and the selection of the Girl of the Year were scheduled for March 25 at Mrs. Richard Shearer’s home.

Bridge Club mourns Jack Shepard longtime director

All members of Lompoc area bridge clubs mourn the death of Jack Shepard last Sunday. He directed local bridge games for nearly ten years and was the first life master to come to Lompoc. He served as the unit's delegate to the ACBL Conference in this district and will be sorely missed. The report also lists recent duplicate tournament results in the Lompoc Vandenberg area and notes a National Charity game tonight at 8 p.m. at Alpha Clubhouse.

Hobby displays entertain Community Woman's Club luncheon

The March luncheon at Lions Inn featured hobby displays and demonstrations by five members led by program chairman Mrs. Leslie McIntosh. Mrs. Rueben Carlson showed cake decoration, Mrs. Sam Hines candle making, Mrs. C K Chilson paper roses, Mrs. Fred Smith ceramics, and Mrs. Richard Henning weaving. The event welcomed guests and included a Girl Scout salute led by Debbie Chandler and a $10 donation to the Lompoc Museum. Announcement of Shannon Lahoma Carrigan birth was made by the parents.
