VA rejects county clinic plan for Goleta Valley site
The Veterans Administration refused the county board’s proposal to leasing land at County General Hospital for an outpatient clinic in Goleta Valley calling the terms unrealistic and expensive. VA land management director Donovan Hower cited scope limits and the inability to grant full use of county ancillary services for the lease term. The county had suggested private enterprise build and lease County property within the hospital complex, claiming duplication of services would waste tax funds.

Tour bus parking plan discussed by county supervisors
County Board of Supervisors directed Transportation Director Charles Wagner to draft tour bus parking guidelines for the Veterans Memorial Building area in Solvang. The board also asked for a report on potential revenue from a county lot, as Solvang businesses note buses park throughout town. Man arrested for robbery in Lompoc and coast guard incident
A Lompoc man Larry Williams Lucero 21 of 1236 North A St was arrested Tuesday at a drive in theater after allegedly assaulting a coastguardsman in Ryan Park and robbing him of 102. Lucero was booked in Lompoc Jail with 5000 bail. He is charged with strongarm robbery of Byron Kent Waldrip 22 a Coast Guard member stationed at Pt Arguello. Police seek a second suspect. Also notes property parcels in Solvang Los Olivos and Lompoc area and a Lompoc Junior High School counselor coffee meeting for parents Friday March 18 at 10 am.
