The Lompoc Jaycees will award a $500 bond to the non commercial group producing the best Flower Festival floral float this year. Parade co chairman Bob Gaston says the prize should spur local groups to craft bigger and better displays.
Police said burglars broke into Perozzi's Hardware at 201 W Ocean Ave in Lompoc and stole a dozen hunting knives two antique firearms and大量 ammunition. A patrolman found the open gate at 4 18 a m and noted a skylight entry. Missing items include an 1886 Winchester a 1880 12 gauge shotgun and 15 boxes of 20 gauge ammo. Two empty tool boxes were also taken. A violin valued at 100 was reported stolen from a car at Lompoc Junior High School on March 4 but not before Thursday. The violin belonged to Donna Lee Ernest and was in the car of band leader Duane Baker.
The 19th annual Festival Parade plans competition across multiple categories with a $500 bond and first place trophies.
