Judiciary panel demands White House information on impeachment

Two members of the House Judiciary Committee insist the panel seeks only necessary material from the White House for the Nixon impeachment inquiry. The panel requests six tapes, documents, and an index of files, amid threats to subpoena if not granted access. A Louis Harris poll shows 54 percent favor impeachment if information is withheld, 18 percent believe Nixon frank, 71 percent think material has been withheld.

Lompoc Trustees to Consider $6 Million Teacher Pay Proposal

In a specially scheduled meeting next Friday the Lompoc school trustees will formally review a Certificated Employe Council salary and fringe benefits plan totaling about 6 million dollars above current budgets. The package, from the CEC building on prior Lompoc Education Association and Federation of Teachers proposals, requests a 1.98 million dollar raise to top teachers at 20 087, a reduction in students per teacher costing 1.676 million, 395 191 for cost of living, 317 283 for fringe benefits, and 299 635 for clerical aides. A 24 percent salary rise for classified staff is also requested.

Bar and restaurant plan eyed by Lompoc panel

Lompoc Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at City Hall to consider John W. Hellmuth request to establish a restaurant and bar at 724 E Ocean Ave in a new building with two other commercial uses. Other items include Ecology Center permit status Lerner Service Station and a bikeways plan.
