Laird discloses further defense cutbacks across bases

Time bomb found in Oakland Army Base barracks
A 2 inch explosive device wired to a timing device was found on the third floor of a transient barracks at the Oakland Army Base. Soldiers evacuated the area. Army EOD from San Francisco disarmed it. FBI and military police opened an investigation amid a spate of Bay Area bombings including a dynamite pack on a Southern Pacific train car.
