Women urged to continue efforts in politics

Mary Louise Smith head of the Republican National Committee told the National Women's Political Caucus convention in Boston that despite more women running for and winning office the journey is far from over. She noted no female senators, one woman governor and 19 congresswomen, while urging greater participation in party politics. The NWPC, with about 2000 delegates, also backed the Equal Rights Amendment and heard speakers including Rep. Elizabeth Holtzman and four Democratic presidential hopefuls.
