Pacific Conservatory Season At Allan Hancock College
The Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts at Allan Hancock College projects near sellouts for a 47 day 54 performance season starting July 8 with Carousel. The season features five productions July 8 11 15 21 28 and ends August 23. UC students build sand cleaning machine inspired by oil spill
UCSB chemical and nuclear engineering students designed a sand cleaning device using a liquid fluidized bed to strip oil from contaminated beach sand. The 12 inch by 6 foot column system fed sand through hot water and steam, removing oil with 95 percent efficiency in tests and earning a prize from the AIAA Santa Barbara section.
