Paradise area land issue debated by Forest Supervisor
Los Padres National Forest Supervisor Robert G. Lancaster told the Board of Supervisors the Paradise recreation homes and the land exchange program are not related and should not be traded off. He noted 143 homes in three tracts mix with five campgrounds and a small school, with about 75 percent of homes occupied as primary residences. Lease terms run to 1984 and current permits limit use to recreation homes.

Zoning Backwards May Set Precedent In Annexation Case
Goleta County Water District wins approval to annex 832 acres of Cavalletto property north of Highway 101 and west of Glen Annie Canyon Rd. The plan converts residential zoning to agricultural use with safeguards: 350 acres irrigation cap and 80 acres open space. Cavalletto backs the move hoping to create a lemon and avocado orchard and set a precedent.
