Israel launches helicopter raid into Egypt near Suez

Israeli commandos crossed the Gulf of Suez and hit a military base 42 miles inside Egypt, destroying two armored personnel carriers and reporting no Israeli casualties. Eight jurors tentatively set for Manson trial

In Los Angeles on Monday eight jurors were tentatively selected for the Tate LaBianca murder case against four Manson Family members. The defense sought access to Linda Kasabian amid immunity talks, while Judge Older delayed ruling on waiving a jury trial for Susan Atkins. The eight tentative jurors include three women and five men.

Beattie names four to county water advisory panel

The appointees are Lompoc Mayor Arthur Scott Councilman George Cotsenmeyer Record Editor Harry Crompe and Virgil Phelps of the Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District. The panel will serve the Water Agency through state water delivery negotiations and supply development including potential desalination. The group meets today at 2 p.m. in Santa Barbara.
