Santa Ynez Valley High School held commencement for 146 graduates with the March Processional by the Pirate Band under Dan Neece. Principal Manuel J. Silva presented the class, with diplomas by Dr Craig Larson and Gene Hasley and speakers Bonnie Mills and Kirk Wetterholm.

Water system bond issue poll proposed in Buellton district
Buellton Community Services District may mail a ballot to residents to gauge support for financing a water system expansion and improvements. Atty. Ron Cook said funding from Public Works or Safe Drinking Water Act programs seems unlikely but an evaluation under the Davis-Grunsky Bill is expected in two to three weeks, after which directors will decide on the mail ballot. An engineer noted sewer line extension plans to North McMurray Road and a project schedule will be ready in about 20 days. The board also set a hearing for the 1977 78 budget on June 22 at 8 p.m.
