Vince Clark recovered from a bad crash in the first moto to win the next two motos and take second overall in the 12%cc expert class at Indians Dunes. In the 20cc juniors Herb Harper finished fifth while Chuck Meyers crashed most of the day and did not place.
Greg Reck and Terry Carrell earned selection to the high school portion at the Bow of Motocross in the Los Angeles Coliseum next month after Reck placed second in the 125cc expert race at Indian Dunes Valencia. Seven other Lompoc riders competed under the lights with Freddie Perry winning the 100cc intermediate.
Bob Taylor of Lompoc finished second in the super stock main event Saturday night at the Santa Maria Speedway and also won the A dash. He pressured winner Dan Simkins throughout the race, marking a second straight runner-up finish. Cliff Vose was third and point-leader Bobby Randolph finished 17th. Frank Burgin dominated the super modified races with dash heat and main event wins. Duane Fiscus was second in the main and Terry Mullican third. Randy Claborn won the rookie big engine class for his third straight win and advances to the pros. Jim McKean won the small engine class. Midget racers from the U S Racing Club will headline next Saturday at the Speedway with the usual bill.

Tim Martin Ist and Ronald Hohimer 2nd in 6-7. Jerry Friar Ist and Aaron Friar 2nd in 8-9. Buddy Luxton 1st and Mike Cairns 2nd in 10-11. Races will air Thursday at 8 p.m. on Channel 7.

UCLA star Billy Martin leads the 91st NCAA tennis championships with a 15-1 mark the best record among singles players. He is top seed, facing challengers John Whitlinger Stanford Hank Pfister San Jose State Brian Teacher Jim Delaney Butch Watts Terry Moor Ferdi Taygan Victor Amaya Ross Walker among others.
