Service news from Lompoc details retirements and training
Lompoc residents are highlighted with military milestones. Senior Master Sergeant William Willis retires from the Air Force at Vandenberg AFB after 20 years as a civil engineering work control superintendent in SAC. Airman Thomas R. Lopez completes basic training at Lackland and heads to Lowry AFB for armament systems training. he is a 1966 Lompoc High School alumnus. Marine Lieutenant Joseph W. Gallo graduates from Helicopter Pilot's Familiarization at Camp Pendleton. In San Francisco, Stephen J. Dickson wins the 1971 champion cable car bell ringer crown for rhythm and presence.
