Methodists to honor graduating seniors this weekend

The First United Methodist Church will honor graduating seniors at Sunday 10 30 worship. United Methodist Women will present awards and host a reception after the service. Church school starts at 9 15 with programs for children through third grade. The district conference meets Sunday afternoon at St Pauls Oxnard with delegates from Lompoc. The Men’s Father Son banquet is Monday June 4 at 6 30 p.m. Reservations are requested. Randy Thompson a Lompoc High senior and Santa Barbara County Film Festival winner will screen 8mm color films. A dinner and program Sunday June 10 has two seatings at 6 and 7 p.m. Sign up for seats. Volunteers may call Lois Miller for details. cost 2 50 per family 1 per adult 50 cents per child under 12.

United Church Welcomes New Members and Events

The United Church will receive new members during the 10 a.m. worship service with communion. Sermon titled Persistent Prayerfulness and Humble Trust in God from Nehemiah. Deacons and deaconesses meet during coffee hour. Week events include Nursery School budget Monday at 12 noon and Board of Christian Stewardship Tuesday at 7 30 p.m. in the church office. Pastor attends Tri County Clergy Seminar on Alcoholism in Santa Barbara Wednesday. Next Sunday June 10 Pentecost Sunday and Board of Christian Education meeting after church.

Calvary Church Hosts First Baptist Ensemble This Sunday

Calvary Baptist Church presents a musical program in the evening by a group of 12 college age girls from First Baptist Torrance. Margrett Bishop, formerly of Calvary Lompoc, is in the group. Pastor Wallis Turner preaches on What Me a Saint in Ephesians. Sunday School runs 9 45 a m with nursery through senior adults. Training hour follows evening service.

St Marys to honor visiting assistant this Sunday

The Rev. Reed K. Merino, assisting at St Marys Episcopal Church, will be honored at the 10 a.m. service this Sunday with a post service potluck luncheon. He departs Sunday to become vicar of two Episcopal missions out of Winnemucca Nevada. Services are at 8 and 10 a.m. Fr Reed will preach at both services and the Second Service will include Holy Communion. Parishioners are asked to bring meat for a barbecue and a salad or hot dish for the lunch. Senior Episcopal Young Churchmen meet at 7 p.m. Sunday. Midweek Holy Communion is at 7 30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. Sharing of Our Many Selves follows each midweek service.

First Southern Baptist Church of Lompoc Set for Sunday Services

Joel Latimer will lead 11 am and 7 pm sermons at First Southern Baptist Church of Lompoc. Dr. W B Timberlake attends Southern Baptist Convention in Portland with over 14 000 messengers from 36 000 churches. A second west side bus route starts Sunday for Sunday School and church, with Dale Soulek directing 65 teachers and officers at 9 30. Training Union at 6 led by Lee Sumners with 30 staff. New members class meets in the pastor’s study led by Joel Latimer.
