Astronauts to be isolated in Hawaii twelve more days
In Hawaii the last three Apollo astronauts Thomas Stafford Vance Brand and Deke Slayton will remain in isolation for at least 12 more days recovering from lung inflammation caused by fumes in their cabin. Doctors reported significant improvement but noted reduced immunity from treatments and exposure. Slayton had more severe lung damage but has shown a fantastic recovery and will move to beachhouses for rest and observation after release from Tripler Army Hospital Center.

Four Die In Santa Maria Traffic Accidents
Police reported four fatalities in separate crashes around Santa Maria. Peter Paul Perona 40 died when his body was run over by a livestock truck at the County Fair grounds where detectives suspect he slept beneath the vehicle. Mary Ann Palliser 26 and her daughter Marlene Palliser 7 died on Highway 101 near Santa Maria Way after the car rolled over. Margie Palliser 6 suffered minor injuries. In a separate crash at Santa Maria Way and Bradley Road, William Cusworth 19 died after the motorcycle he rode in collided with a car driven by Charles Keller 17. Jeffrey Cusworth 22 was listed in critical condition.
