New plan eyed to boost water supply on South Coast

Former Bureau of Reclamation engineer John Hamilton told the County Water Agency that a conjunctive use procedure could yield thousands of acre feet of water by combining peak reservoir releases from Cachuma and Gibraltar with local groundwater, plus flood water, without harming Santa Ynez River rights. He cautioned it would not justify risking county Feather River entitlements. Meanwhile staff talks with San Luis Obispo County aim to delay a 1975 phase 2 deadline in the state water program.

Lompoc resident Mrs. Earle F. Ross won best arrangement for her pink flamingo display in a bright pink container at the Santa Barbara County Fair. The Lompoc Community Women's Club earned first in Best Club Arrangements for Wild Turkey. Best Specimen honors went to Mrs. Robert Burnett for a pink pelargonium display.
