Nixon refuses to turn over Watergate tapes to Senate panel

Jetliner Crashes Off Tahiti With 79 Aboard
A Pan American Boeing 707 with 79 people aboard crashed into the sea a mile off Papeete Tahiti after the pilot reported a smashed windshield and planned an emergency landing. Ten bodies were recovered while a Canadian passenger was rescued alive and tentatively identified as Mr Campbell.

Gordon Strachan testified that H R Haldeman ordered purge of political memos on intelligence operations after the Watergate break-in. Eddie Rickenbacker dies at 82 in Zurich
Aviation pioneer Captain Eddie Rickenbacker died of heart failure at Neumuenster Hospital in Zurich at age 82.
