Mixed reactions greet segregation crackdown
U.S. District Court Judge John J. Sirica ordered a federal crackdown on school segregation in up to 46 districts including Chicago Los Angeles and New York City. He criticized HEW for delays and gave 60 days to complete investigations in 14 other districts while 32 districts face enforcement proceedings that could cut federal aid.
