Hospitals prepare to challenge Brown action
California Hospital Association plans to use all legal and legislative remedies to block the Brown administration action halting increased Medi Cal payments to hospitals. Health Secretary Mario Obledo cited federal denial to limit increases to 10 percent and said beds are being funded by state funds. CHA executive vice president William Whelan said the move targets excess beds through reimbursement limits and would test the medical care program’s legal scope. Obledo noted the delay in state approval to impose the limit has lasted over three months.
