Josephson Returns to Rams After Achilles Tear

Lester Josephson, 6-foot 205 pound running back from Augustana College, rejoined the Los Angeles Rams after missing 1967 with a torn Achilles. He played 1967 with 800 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards. The Rams traded Henry Dyer to the New York Giants for a future draft pick. Dyer had 136 rushing yards on 55 carries in 1968.

U S spike squad favored in track meet with Russia

UPI reports United States coach Joe Yancey predicts a close meet but a win for the American men over Russia in Los Angeles at Memorial Coliseum. The U S squad will face the Soviet men and the British Commonwealth squad Friday and Saturday, with Morale high and stars John Carlos and Bob Beamon among Yancey’s former pupils. The Soviet contingent arrived in Los Angeles with 66 athletes and officials, after competing in Poland and East Germany.

SANTA BARBARA UPI One thing for sure none of the San Francisco Forty Niners is a threat to milers Jim Ryun and Marty Liquori.
