Eleanor Thornburg 35 Dies. Funeral Friday in Lompoc

Mrs. Eleanor Thornburg of 527 N M St Apt A died Monday at home. Funeral services are Friday at 1 p.m. at McPeek Family Chapel officiated by Rev Kenneth Boyd. Interment at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Born July 10 1935 in Sioux Centre Iowa she was a bookkeeper. Survivors include Kristy Dianne Donna Marie Debra Jo her children of Lompoc her mother Winifred Milenburg of Sioux Centre and a brother George Deldbroon.

THEFT REPORTED AT VANDENBERG VICTORVILLE HOME

James Silsbee reports a theft of 50 dollars from his wallet kept in a bedroom at 491 Terra Way Vandenberg Village. The incident happened yesterday per the Sheriff's office. A Cub Pack 53 meeting is set for tomorrow at 7 30 p.m. at La Honda School. Minor to moderate car damage occurred at East Chestnut Avenue 400 block when a driver collided with a parked car belonging to Audie Wallace Willis. Victoria June Melson 19 of 520 S R St sustained abrasions. A Community Development Director position is open with the Santa Barbara CAC at 232 E Montecito St applications due Feb 5 1971. Allan Hancock College students must verify registration by Thursday noon to avoid second semester admission issues.

Rehearsals begin for Mozart mass at Allan Hancock College

The Santa Maria Symphony Orchestra and college choir start rehearsals for Mozart’s requiem with over 200 singers and a 45 member orchestra. Registration for soloists instrumentalists and singers runs to February 4 with classes in the Hancock Music Building on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Benton Named Campaign Director For 1971 March of Dimes Drive

Mrs. Charlotte Benton will head the Lompoc fund raising drive January 2 to 31 for birth defects research. Golf champion Arnold Palmer is the honorary national chairman. The campaign supports over 100 Birth Defects Centers and education programs.

Slain Isla Vista Woman Identified as Ronnee Brock

Deputies identified the young woman slain early Monday near an Isla Vista pool hall as Ronnee Maxine Brock 26 also known as Rhonda Maxine Weinstein. She lived in Isla Vista briefly and had ties to Brooklyn New York. Authorities lack leads as investigators pursue clues.

CHP sergeant transfer to Buellton announced

Captain R R Reese announced that Sergeant Norbert J Schuermann is transferred to the Santa Maria Area and will be assigned to the Buellton Substation. The 19 year CHP veteran, born in St Louis, served in World War II in the China India Burma theater and now relocates with his wife Norma and five children to the Santa Maria area.
