Let's Work theme guides Lompoc Toastmistress meeting

The Lompoc Toastmistress dinner in the Golden Greek Restaurant banquet room featured the theme Let's Work with Experiences at Work chosen by Laura Atkin for extemporaneous talks by Minnie Vilkaitis Natalie Arnold Betty Klein and Lorraine Holmes. Billie Clausen gave an icebreaker about Kodiak Alaska earthquake and tidal wave experiences. Planning for February's annual speech contest and the January 28 meeting at Security Pacific National Bank were announced.

Santa Barbara Cowbelles install new officers for two years

Mrs. Louis Donati Jr of Santa Maria is the new president for the Santa Barbara County Cowbelles. Officers include Mrs. Richard Grossini as vice president and Mrs. Robert Russell as secretary, with a slate of directors led by Mrs. William Chamberlain and others. Installation luncheon at Howard Johnsons drew 49 attendees. New members welcomed include Mrs. James Cooper and Mrs. Viggo Wulf. A cattle industry book was distributed to libraries, and plans for the Feb 27 Cattlemen’s dinner at the Elks Club were announced. Next meeting set for March 10 in Buellton.

Chi Phi Chapter Beta Sigma Phi conducted a books and authors contest naming 15 titles such as The Robe Airport Rebecca and Grapes of Wrath. Mrs. Robert McKean scored high naming seven authors. BSP ball Valentine Queen planning and a Christmas Cheer donation were discussed. Meeting at Mrs. Richard Fraser with co host Mrs. Steve McPhail. Next meeting January 28 at Mrs. Richard Charest’s home.

Barbershop Society to Install Officers in Lompoc Event

Lompoc chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing will install officers this Saturday January 23 at the Village Country Club. The event includes entertainment by the Santa Maria Chapter and groups The Intrepids The Gents in a Chord from Lompoc and the Santa Maria Harmonizers.

Cabrillo Concert Choir to repeat Broadway revue

Cabrillo Concert Choir will perform a repeat Broadway revue this Thursday at 8 pm in the Cabrillo Little Theater. The show features eight beloved musicals with 39 student performers, directed by Bob Carlton and Mrs. Jane Pilkington, with Martha Sparks on piano and Lee Walker narrating. Proceeds fund the choir’s spring trip.
