Assembly approves local spending cap for 70 million saving
In Sacramento the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee approved AB337 to cap local government spending at prior year collection plus a cost of living and population growth. The bill would add 60 million for schools but cut 130 million in property tax revenue for cities counties and special districts to reach a net 70 million savings for taxpayers. It sets a cost of living cap up to eight percent and raises the school district growth limit to eight percent while cities and counties stay capped at that level.
