Teenagers held to answer for Isla Vista bank bombing

Two teenaged Grand Rapids youths, Michael Bluitt 19 and Wendell Lovett 18, were held to answer in Superior Court in Santa Barbara on felony counts for the December 14 bombing of the Bank of America Isla Vista branch. Bail set at 25,000 each, arraignment January 25.

Airport panel proposes hangar lease and fee hikes

The County Airport Committee recommended to the Board of Supervisors arrangements for a 70 by 70 foot hangar at Santa Ynez County Airport, funded by a $120,000 project paid through increased hangar rents and tiedown fees. Fletcher Jones’s Westerly Stud Farm would be the main tenant, with Bill Luke as fixed base operator. The panel also backed higher hangar rents at Lompoc and Santa Ynez, plus increases for tiedowns, as well as awards for AFSC personnel and a grand jury venue in January.
