California plane hijacked to Cuba
A Pacific Southwest Airlines Boeing 727 en route from San Francisco to Los Angeles was hijacked by a black couple who disarmed a stewardess and struck a passenger with a gun butt. After landing in Tampa they forced the crew to remain hostage as they claimed plans to fly to Havana Cuba. The hijackers later said they aimed for Africa but were told the plane lacked trans Atlantic range.
