Redistricting Proposal Faces County Supervisors

The Santa Barbara County Board will review a late redistricting map hours before two new supervisors take office. The plan shifts Santa Ynez Valley and Hope Ranch from the Third to the Second district and Buellton from the Third to the Fourth, making Goleta Valley its own Third District entity. Midwest braces as winter storm hits with ice and snow

Freezing Temperatures Trigger Frost Problems Across City

Subfreezing temperatures froze water pipes and iced streets overnight. An overnight low of 22 degrees at Floradale Farms and 24 degrees at Lompoc High School, 26 at East North Avenue water plant, caused car batteries to fail but no major accidents. City officials urged dripping faucets and wrapping exposed pipes to prevent future outages.
